I’ve been busy at FUGO Studios, but I’ll post some new work up soon.

I am very excited to announce that two of the shorts I have worked on will be screened at the Canne Film Festival this year.
See them both below:

The Phantom Draw Title Sequence

The Phantom Draw Title Sequence

Here is the title sequence for The Phantom Draw.
The concept behind the sequence relates to a few things. The aesthetics relate to molecules, the creation of molecules, and the feeling of looking at a liver floating in a jar. The line elements relate to the molecular diagram and to the film’s character. He is a peculiar man and tends to go off on tangents in his voice-over.

We were done with the film at 8 AM on Sunday. It was shot on location in Gainesville and Lawrenceville, Ga.

Here is some photo correction I did when we needed a new product shot at the last minute for the Good Nite Lite.

Good Nite Light

Good Nite Light

A client came to us and wanted a commercial for their night light product. We were originally going to shoot the commercial with a child actor at a location, but they needed the video quicker than they anticipated for an event. They proposed a “Ken Burns” look with just photos. We took the photos and created a slow motion look instead.

We cut out the subjects and objects in Photoshop, and animated them in After Effects with the puppet tool. The product shot was taken in our studio with not lighting and we cleaned it up in Photoshop.

Everything’s For Sale Screening

EFS Title Sequence

My title sequence on the big screen!
Thanks to everyone that came out tonight to support Everything’s For Sale. The screening went great and it was really cool to see our hard work in the theater.

Everything’s For Sale Screening

Everything's For Sale

The screening for FUGO Studios’ latest short film, Everything’s For Sale, is set for this Thursday, Jan 27th at the Landmark Midtown Arts Cinema. There will be two screenings, one at 7 PM and one at 8:30 PM.

It was a great time working on the set and in post-production. Keep an eye out for the title sequence I worked on for the short and feel free to come see the short film.

Starbuckle Pictures

Starbuckle Pictures ID

Starbuckle Pictures needed a “film” like ID. They were newly formed with only a name but no logo. I created the logo based on the nautical star theme. The water was created using the Psunami plugin and it was color corrected with the rest of the animation in After Effects.

Periphery – “Jetpacks Was Yes!”

Periphery - Jetpacks Was Yes!

This was produced by Eric Haviv, Richard Webb, and myself of FUGO Studios. We shot the performance parts at a local warehouse with 2 Canon 550D DSLR cameras (with Nikon 50mm Lenses). The storyline locations were shot around Atlanta, mostly in Castleberry, Oakland Cemetery, and Midtown residential streets. The matte paintings (my first time attempting) were made with both location shots and stock footage using Photoshop and After Effects.

Vocalist Spencer Sotelo comments on the new video: “Originally the guys and I wanted to portray a very melancholy vibe. We had been brainstorming ideas together for a few weeks and had some different concepts. I thought it would be awesome to try and bring to life the actual meaning and emotion of the song’s story line in a very literal, yet tasteful way. It is a fictional story about an infinite being who outlives everyone, and everything, he comes in contact with. He comes to realize that although living forever has it’s great benefits, it is a curse because everything has a finite lifespan whether it be people, trees, animals, even planets and solar systems. Therefore, this video is the section of his life where he is reminiscing on his past relationships with different places and people that had meaning to him. The rest is basically showing how he has outlived the very place he had called his home for a great deal of time, and he now has to search for new colonies throughout the galaxy to fit in to and ultimately start over and make a new life.”

ADAA Honorable Mention

Just got news from ADAA that I got an Honorable Mention for my entry. Not bad, but not a finalist. Still pretty cool

ADAA Semi-Finalist

Earlier this year, I entered the Adobe Design Achievement Award competition with my senior project.

I didn’t think anything would happen with it, but I just got an email notifying me that I made it to the Semi-Final judging. Here’s to hoping I win for Motion Graphics!

My senior project reflects on common conversations and comments I’ve dealt with since childhood about being half Indian and half white. The project reflects a style that is both traditional Indian and modern American. All of the elements were hand-drawn, scanned in, colored in Photoshop, and then animated in
After Effects.

ESPN U

ESPN U

This was a school project for a network ID. We were required to use stock studio footage. Because of the baseball player’s generic uniform, I made an ID for ESPN U as opposed to ESPN. It advertises the fact that ESPN U is growing and appearing in more places.

Self Health Revolution

Self Health Revolution

A local author wanted an intro video for his website. I animated the different elements of his book cover to create a short introduction.

Crown J

Crown J

Up and coming hip-hop artist Crown J needed a video invitation to promote his album release party. The video includes Crown J with some minor animation.

AMC Packaging

AMC Packaging

This was for a school project to re-brand a network. AMC programming has movies from the 50′s to now, as well as it’s own TV shows. The packaging uses the idea that both young and old have seen these movies but at different times in their lives. It relates the programming to similar events in time. The packaging helps the viewer connect the advertised programming with their own memories of the movies and shows.

Spike TV

Spike TV

This was a school project for a network ID. Spike TV was made as the first network for men. The target audience is 18-32 year-old males, which can be a broad spectrum. The concept uses humor and relates to the idea of how the male and female brains differ.

Mezzo

Mezzo

Mezzo is a luxury condo apartment complex in Buckhead Atlanta. They needed a promotional video to show off their location, models, and amenities.

Dinner, Drinks, & Desserts

Dinner, Drinks, & Desserts with Amy Otto

A local online show needed an animated intro for their show. The show follows a female host that educates viewers about various foods and drinks in local Atlanta restaurants. Green screen footage of the host eating and drinking was incorporated with interiors of restaurants. The intro follows a cherry moving from each scene and ending as part of the show title.

G3 Carbon Fiber Briefcase

G3 Carbon Fiber Briefcase

Nikola Design needed an online commercial to show off their carbon fiber briefcase. The commercial focuses on the briefcase’s sleek design and the target audience of wealthy and affluent individuals.
